The 8KLO Festival is the outward-facing half of 8KLO. Where the hackathon is a pressure cooker, a few days, one place, one deadline, the festival is the opposite gesture: taking what comes out of that pressure and giving it room to breathe, in front of new audiences, in new cities.
The 8KLO Festival is a screening circuit dedicated to author animation, built around the same mission as the hackathon: using animated short film to open conversations about mental health that are too often left unsaid. Each stop brings a curated program in front of a local audience, hosted by a local cultural partner, and paired with debates, exhibitions of the research and visual work behind the films, and a hands-on animation workshop open to younger audiences.
Each edition unfolds over several days. The festival is paired with debates about different points of view from one culture to the next on the same subject.

This program brings together the strongest work to come out of that year's hackathons

The second day is dedicated to graduation and student films that offer a fresh perspective on mental health.

The third part opens the program to the wider public, with a broader selection of films.
There will be a screening of the 8KLO 2025 films on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The screening will take place in a chapel, in the presence of our partners and the filmmakers.
For more information or to reserve your free seat, please email us at festival@8klo.eu.
We want to include as many people affected by mental health issues as possible. That is why we will also pilot a private screening for patients from the mental health hospitals partnering with the event.
The next screenings will be updated on this section. Stay tuned !
It depends on the screening and the country. Please verify on the screening info and if in need of help, contact us at festival@8klo.eu
The next screening will be a private one for 2025 participants and partners. It will take place the 6th of October.
You can keep an eye on the website and the Instagram. Or send us a mail to festival@8klo.eu with the object "STAY INFORMED !".
Filmmakers who create short films with a mental health theme can submit their work for consideration. Be careful in your selection of the category.
We are still evaluating the question but we can assure that it's in everyone's best interests to make it the cheapest possible.
You can see the difference in the name. As you see, the words are different. You're welcome.
